About Us

MixBytes was founded in 2017 by a group passionate about decentralization, blockchain, and smart contracts. With extensive experience in high-load systems, Big Data, search engines, and anti-spam/antivirus technologies from Web2 companies, some team members also had academic backgrounds at leading technical universities.

In the early days, we organized workshops and meetups for Web2 developers and entrepreneurs on blockchain fundamentals and its business applications.

MixBytes began offering blockchain research and consulting, implementing smart contract business cases on Ethereum. We also provided independent smart contract development and security auditing services, initially focusing on tokens and ICOs.

During the first major crypto winter, our team experimented with developing security SaaS solutions, as well as different consensus algorithms and blockchains.

We worked on developing blockchain consensus algorithms on top of EOS and Polkadot, and created tools for blockchain stability and performance benchmarking as part of a grant from the Web3 Foundation.

Additionally, we had several internal startup projects focused on smart contract wizards and Token-curated Registries (TCR)-related categories.

With the emergence and rapid growth of the DeFi industry in 2020, our team decided to focus on audits, leveraging the extensive experience in this area. Among our first DeFi clients were Aragon, Curve Finance, Yearn Finance, Aave, 1inch, and many other well-known protocols.

Since 2021, MixBytes has worked closely with Lido, the leader in the liquid staking segment. The launch of Lido on Polkadot and Kusama marked a significant milestone for us in 2022. MixBytes was selected to implement the project due to a combination of two key factors: deep expertise in Substrate/XCM development and a proven track record in auditing the liquid staking logic of the core Lido protocol.

Thanks to over two years of work with Lido, the team has gained an in-depth understanding of liquid staking and derivatives built on top of it, giving us a significant advantage over other auditing firms.

MixBytes took advantage of another crypto winter to improve and optimize our audit processes for existing DeFi clients and partners. Our team made significant investments in building stronger relationships with key clients who have the most relevant experience in the DeFi sector, helping us better understand their challenges. We also focused on gaining momentum with L2 deployments.

All team members dedicated their time to in-depth research on various DeFi categories and attack vectors, as well as refining our auditing methodologies and leveraging audit tools.

We concluded our internal BootCamp for auditors and made it available as a public good for those aspiring to become security researchers.

With the new DeFi cycle, we also expanded our services to include tech consulting and research for cutting-edge DeFi protocols, implementing new features, financial primitives, and complex business logic.

We began collaborating with leading protocols such as Instadapp\Fluid, Euler, Balancer, Swell, Stader, Mantle, Resolv, and others, further enhancing and deepening our expertise in key DeFi categories like lending, stablecoins/CDPs, liquid staking, liquid restaking, DEXs, yield, and cross-chain solutions.

Our strategy is to evolve into a consulting company that works closely with core protocol teams. We aim to ensure secure code and comprehensive architecture from the ideation and development stages of future DeFi projects, throughout their entire product lifecycle.
